The original M, introduced in 1954. Largest viewfinder magnification of any M at 0.91x with 50/90/135mm frame lines. Early models feature double-stroke advance lever; single-stroke from 1958. Approximately 220,000 produced through 1966. The benchmark against which all subsequent M cameras are measured.
